The second silver commemorative coin of 2023

The Finnish Museums Association is celebrating its 100-year history in 2023. The theme of the centenary – Always Up to Date – emphasises the social significance of museums. Founded on 30 September 1923, the Finnish Museums Association has acted as the trustee of museums and the museum sector from the very beginning. These days, our country’s wide-ranging and multifaceted museum field embraces over 1,000 museums.

The anniversary is also honored by the second Finnish commemorative silver coin of 2023.

The plant ornament visible on the emblem side of the commemorative coin depicts, like a timeline, the Finnish Museum Association's centennial and the development of the museum sector and its comprehensive activities. The drawing on the reverse side is a metamorphosis in which a large collection of museum visitors is formed from the antlers of a deer. The pictorial theme of this silver coin was designed by visual artist Aimo Katajamäki.
