Only 30 000 Ice Hockey World Championship 2022 commemorative coins have been made – the lowest number of ice hockey-themed commemorative coins ever made!

  • Commemorative coin in honour of the Ice Hockey World Championship games in Finland
  • Highly limited edition of only 30 000 coins
  • A lasting memory of the ninth world championship games hosted by Finland

The design on one side of the commemorative coin depicts an ice hockey match: it features an ice rink, players and a stand full of cheering spectators. The edge of the coin is encircled by the words SUOMI FINLAND and the nominal value of the coin, 5 euros. The other side portrays five hockey sticks and a puck. The edges include the abbreviations MM and VM (World Championship in Finnish and Swedish), the year 2022 and the letter ”M”, the initial of the artist.

Ice hockey is Finland’s most popular sport. It is also a topic of interest in the world of commemorative coins. A commemorative coin with a value of 5 euros created in honour of the 2003 World Championship in Finland, “Jutin vitonen”, sparked quick action among collectors: the 150 000 coin edition was sold out in record time.

The release date of the commemorative coin is 13 May 2022.
