The design on one side of the commemorative coin depicts an ice hockey match: it features an ice rink, players and a stand full of cheering spectators. The edge of the coin is encircled by the words SUOMI FINLAND and the nominal value of the coin, 5 euros. The other side portrays five hockey sticks and a puck. The edges include the abbreviations MM and VM (World Championship in Finnish and Swedish), the year 2022 and the letter ”M”, the initial of the artist.
Ice hockey is Finland’s most popular sport. It is also a topic of interest in the world of commemorative coins. The release date of the commemorative coin is 13 May 2022.
